A note from the founder.
I'm Mike Gouteff, and I co-founded Dunross Recruitment in 2004 with the idea of placing candidates from newly accepted EU countries — Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland — in jobs in the UK and Ireland. Over the next two decades, our work expanded across the EU and to far-flung places like the UAE and Australia.
Different countries, different industries, different regulatory environments. But one problem kept showing up in every market: the first conversation with a candidate takes 15 minutes, generates 5 minutes of notes, and a recruiter can do maybe 30 of them in a week. That's the optimistic version. In reality, you call a candidate and they don't pick up. You call again. And again. When you finally get through, they're at work or driving or with their kids — they can't talk right now. So you schedule a callback. Maybe they answer next time, maybe they don't. A '30-call week' really means a recruiter spent half of it just trying to reach people.
I started building Klara as an internal tool — a voice agent that could handle structured first-call screening in any language, run a real conversation with a candidate, and give my recruiters back the hours they were losing to repetitive work. The technology to do this well has only existed for about 18 months. Before that, the conversation quality wasn't there. Now it is.
Klara now handles a meaningful share of Dunross's own first-pass screening. So we're spinning it out as a separate product — Dunross AI — and offering Klara to other agencies, HR teams, and BPOs who face the same problem we did.
Dunross AI is a small product team in Prague, backed by the broader Dunross Recruitment organization — 22 years of operations, real recruiters using Klara every day, real customers. No bloated marketing department. No enterprise sales floor. I work directly on the engineering and the customer conversations alongside the team. When you reach out, you're not getting forwarded to a junior SDR — you're talking to people who built the product and use it.
